❓ Why Can’t I See the Remove Button?

Some gadgets in Blogger—especially in third-party themes—may have the "Remove" button hidden or disabled by default. This is usually done by the theme developer to protect certain widgets. But you can still enable it manually by tweaking a simple setting.

🔧 Step-by-Step: Enable the Remove Button in Layout

✅ Step 1: Go to the Theme Section

  • From your Blogger dashboard, click “Theme”
  • Click the arrow beside the “Customize” button
  • Select “Edit HTML”

✅ Step 2: Search for Locked Widgets

Press Ctrl + F (or Cmd + F on Mac) and search for the following:

<b:widget id='HTML1' locked='true'>

Or search for locked='true' to find all locked widgets in the theme.

✅ Step 3: Unlock the Widget

Change locked='true' to locked='false' in the widget tag. Example:

<b:widget id='HTML1' locked='false'>

Now save your theme.

✅ Step 4: Go Back to Layout and Remove the Gadget

  • Return to the Layout section
  • Click “Edit” on the widget you unlocked
  • You should now see the “Remove” button
  • Click it and confirm to delete the gadget

💡 Pro Tips from Vishvas Unfiltered

  • Always back up your theme before editing the HTML
  • Don’t remove important widgets like Blog Posts or Header
  • Use this method to clean demo content from third-party templates
  • Try removing unused Featured Posts or Social widgets

⚠️ Warning

Never edit widget IDs or delete critical sections by mistake. Changing core tags can break your layout. If unsure, take help from Vishvas Unfiltered.
